I am Pengyuan Han, a keen geologist interested in geochemical cycles in the Earth system. My current research primarily focuses on the chemical composition and evolution of the continental crust. As a unique feature of the Earth, the continental crust provides a land base for humanity—our home as well as natural resources. Preserving the oldest minerals/rocks, the continental crust serves as a broad lens through which we can examine Earth's long past and light pathways forward.
I obtained my B.S. in Geology (2010–2014) and M.S. in Geochemistry (2014–2017) from China University of Geosciences, Wuhan, under the supervision of Dr. Shan Gao. I then earned my Ph.D. in Geochemistry and Petrology (2019–2025) from UC Santa Barbara, working with Dr. Roberta Rudnick. I am currently a postdoc at UC Santa Barbara.
